At McLaren Vale Veterinary Surgery we understand that end of life decisions for our furry family members are always difficult and emotional. Our loved pets form an integral part of our family, so having to say goodbye is a very difficult time.
It is important to give your pet the farewell they deserve, whilst also considering our impact on the environment. Water Cremation (also known as Aquamation) is an alternative process to traditional flame cremation. Flame cremations can have a heavy impact on the environment. Aquamation has about 1/10th of the carbon footprint of traditional flame cremations. The water cremation process is also Accredited Carbon Neutral.
Water cremation uses a process called Aquamation which, unlike traditional cremation, simply accelerates natural processes after death, in a warm water bath. A combination of gentle water flow, temperature, and alkalinity are used to gently accelerate the breakdown of the body over a number of hours. It is a gentle, peaceful process that allows the return of your pets remains.
Water Cremations can offer your pets ashes returned to you for scattering in approximately 7 days. They will be returned in a memorial Urn, to allow you and your family closure, and a way to celebrate the life of your loved companion. If you would like this aftercare option, or would like further information, please contact our clinic.
